Response to Play
The other day, the school watched the play As You Like It, written by William Shakespeare and performed by the acting company Shakesperience. I think they did an amazing job performing. I am going to explain what I thought about the play and why I liked it.
The play As You Like It was set to the 80’s, so it was a little easier to understand. I liked the theme, but I think it if they would have set it in the present day, it would have been a lot better because of all the weird phases, like ‘oof’ or ‘what the hades’, we have. I think that was a good idea because it was funny, and their costumes were crazy. They talked like Shakespeare, but they acted and dressed differently because of the theme. Now for the costumes.
The costumes totally fit in to their 80’s theme! Sometimes they had fancy packs, or painted jackets, or big fluffy hair! They even had cassette tapes and radios that they carried around. I liked Ganymede’s costume, Touchstone’s costume, and Aliena’s fluffy yellow jacket, although I would never want to wear it. I didn’t like Phoebe’s costume because the dark pink top and the black fluffy skirt didn’t go together in my opinion. If we are going to talk about the costumes we might as well talk about the actors.
I liked all of the actors, but my favorite actor was probably Evan because he was so hyped up and was always in a good mood. He played a good Orlando because when Ms. Lehmann was explaining the play, I imagined Orlando as a hyped-up boy. I also liked the actress who played Rosalind, although I thought she would have longer hair. Other than that, she fit well. I didn’t like Silvis’ character because he just seemed to be too excited.
In conclusion, I loved the play and hope that they can come back next year and do another. They made me more excited to watch Wicked The Musical that weekend. I am so glad that I got to be there when they performed. They did amazing job, and I hope that they were happy with the way they performed.
